James K. Galbraith – Will Joe Biden bring the Green New Deal?

The transition process for the next US-presidency has officially begun and President-elect Joe Biden has started to reveal the members of his economic team, including Janet Yellen. Will the US now head for something like a real new economic policy including massive infrastructure investment and climate protection, inspired by the 1930’s New Deal? Following up on our last Short Cut the day after the election, James K. Galbraith commented on the mind-set of Biden´s advisors, the economic situation and prospects for the US at the end of four years of Donald Trump, and whether there are chances for a Green New Deal.

James K Galbraith is a leading economist and Professor of Government. He has held several positions on the staff of the U.S. Congress, including Executive Director of the Joint Economic Committee and is author of several books having as main focus inequality.
