Michael Jacobs sets out what can be done to address the profound challenges and problems we face today. He argues that this will require a new set of goals and benchmarks for economic and social progress, new frameworks for economic analysis, and new kinds of policies.

The report “Beyond Growth: Towards a New Economic Approach” – written for the OECD in September 2020 (on behalf of the Secretary-General’s Advisory Group on a New Growth Narrative) – is now available in German. The key findings of the final report were presented by author Michael Jacobs at an event hosted by the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the OECD Berlin Centre. He then discussed this multifaceted topic with Dennis Snower, member of the Expert Council, Katharina Beck (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) and Christoph Schmidt (RWI Essen).
