The declaration on “winning back the people” was signed at the Berlin Summit end of May by an impressive number of renowned academics and practitioners, including Dani Rodrik, Mariana Mazzucato, Adam Tooze, Olivier Blanchard, Laura Tyson, Angus Deaton, and many others. Is this declaration to compare with and replace the Washington Consensus, as Branko Milanovic put it? What next will follow to make these principles for a new economic policy more concrete? Two early signatories, Branko Milanović and Isabella Weber, joined us in discussing future steps.
