Whether financial bubbles, real estate booms or Bitcoin hype – time and again, major economic trends are shaped by the power of storytelling. However, it is still largely unknown how these narratives arise, how they go viral – and what makes them so dangerous. Robert Shiller is the first to offer a systematic framework for understanding the phenomenon of economic narratives.
How do they come about? And what makes a narrative become a mass phenomenon? How can we predict when a great narrative will burst? When is the next financial crash likely to come? And what can politicians do to prepare? All of this is part of his new book “Narrative Economics”.
To mark the publication of the German version of the book, Shiller will present his findings in Berlin. This will be followed by a panel discussion between Shiller and prominent German economists.
We would like to welcome you to this event, which Forum New Economy is holding in cooperation with the European School for Management and Technology (ESMT Berlin).
